Kim qualified in 2008 as a Speech, Language and Hearing Therapist, from the University of Stellenbosch. In 2009 she completed her Community Service in Graaff Reinet whilst initiating her Masters degree in Linguistics for Language Professions which she completed and qualified in 2010. She then started as a Speech Therapist in private practice and gained experience in various speech-, language- and swallowing disorders.
Kim is passionate about people and seeing them reach their full potential. She goes by the philosphy of working in a team, to treat all patients holistically. She strives to treat each patient with her utmost effort, with equality, with ethics and to the best of her ability. She firmly believes that the patient-therapist relationship is based on trust and strives to serve her patients with integrity and excellence. Kim’s passion lies in adult neurology and seeing her patients gain back their communication and swallowing abilities is part of what makes her tick.
Kim is our practice owner and founder of iCommunicate Speech Therapists. She has a passion for her team of therapists and strives to input and grow them both in and out of the therapy room. While she might be the mind behind the Practice, she most certainly wouldn’t be able to see it grow without working with her team and gaining from their input as well.
Since her training, Kim has completed many courses to further her knowledge and experience. Many of these have focused on Dysphagia training, which included Fibreoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing Training in Adult and Pediatric Swallowing, presented by Dr Mershen Pillay. She has also been trained in Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES), by means of using the Vital Stimulation System.
Outside the practice, Kim loves having some downtime with a book or a good movie, or getting creative with her hands. Besides this, her 2 furry kids keep her very entertained!
